Hundreds of demonstrators in Chile protest against vaccines and the Covid passport, called ‘mobility pass’

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Hundreds of Chileans came out to protest against vaccines and the restrictions imposed by the authorities to try to stop the pandemic.

In front of Chile’s leading television channels, Canal 13 and TVN (Televisión Nacional), the protesters demanded that the media “transmit the truth”, expressed their opposition to the “mobility pass” that requires people to be fully vaccinated to enter enclosed public spaces and use air transport.

“We see a position, there are even many people today who are getting vaccinated, because unfortunately, they are afraid of losing their job, because they cannot go to the mall, they cannot go to de party, because there is no possibility of freedom. Today, people who do not get vaccinated have restrictions in many things, like me. For example, I cannot travel to see my daughter in Colombia because they require me to get a vaccine, ” says one of the demonstrators.

Since December 1, Chile has required booster doses for all over 45 years of age to be eligible for a mobility pass. And it began a campaign for children between 3 and 5 years old to receive their vaccinations, with an estimated total of 700,000 children vaccinated.

Currently, more than 85% of the Chilean population is vaccinated, and according to the authorities, more than 9 million people have already received their booster dose.
