São Paulo: Avenida Paulista celebrates 130 years with cultural activities until Sunday

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – In commemoration of the 130th anniversary of Paulista Avenue, starting tomorrow (8), many Paulista cultural institutions will promote online and in-person celebrations at the seven institutions: Casa das Rosas, Fiesp Cultural Center, IMS Paulista, Itaú Cultural, Japan House São Paulo, MASP and Sesc Avenida Paulista.

IMS PAULISTA

One hundred thirty years of history in the IMS collection. To celebrate 130 years of Paulista Avenue, we will talk about the history of its creation, about the changes that transformed it into the avenue we know today, and about some crucial episodes during this period.

From a residential area of the emerging bourgeoisie to a financial, commercial, cultural, and civic center, today Paulista attracts all kinds of people for the most varied activities. Learning more about the avenue’s trajectory can become a practice of citizenship: delving into the past to prepare for the future since the process of constant change does not end in 2021.
