Brazil’s Ambassador to Paraguay presents strategic work plans to congressional committee

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – In a meeting on Saturday, the appointed Brazilian representative presented his strategic work plan and answered several questions about Paraguay.

The main Paraguay-Brazil bilateral links are focused on sharing common infrastructure, energy and border cooperation, as well as the fight against transnational illegal activities.

He pointed out that Brazil shares a 1,339 km border with Paraguay, of which some 700 km are dry borders. He also said that 11% of the energy consumed by Brazil comes from Itaipu.

The newly appointed ambassador presented the main vectors of the Paraguayan-Brazilian relationship; he said that there is a surplus in terms of energy exports from Itaipu. He highlighted Paraguay’s export diversification and its integration into Brazil’s production chains.

Another factor emphasized is that Brazil is the 4th largest investor in Paraguay. Regarding Paraguay’s economic growth, he said that it will reach 4% in 2021.
