Covid-19: Entry requirements to Ecuador change in December

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – From December, entry requirements to Ecuador will change for all passengers arriving on international flights.

Once again, the Government announced changes in the protocols and guidelines for entry by air to Ecuador, effective from December 1, 2021, at 12 midnight.

Mainly, the requirements come with the fear of the new variant Omicron, found in Africa, so basically, the measures will now require travelers to be 100% vaccinated plus a negative PCR test.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTRY TO ECUADOR FROM DECEMBER

Expanding the information, based on what was officially published by the President of Ecuador, the new requirements that will come into force from midnight December 1, 2021, and pending official publication by the National COE are:

Persons older than 16 years old; must present a vaccination certificate with the complete scheme of at least 14 days before arrival and negative RT-PCR test 72 hours before the start of the trip.

Both requirements are mandatory.

Persons from 2 to 15 years, 11 months, and 29 days of age must present a negative RT-PCR test 72 hours before the beginning of the trip.

These controls will also be carried out by the airlines at the point of origin of the flight.

Entry into the national territory is prohibited to any person whose origin, stopover, or transit is South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Eswatini, Mozambique, and Egypt.

If a suspect case is detected among travelers, and RT-PCR test will be performed; if positive, the person will be placed in isolation for 14 days. Otherwise, it will not be necessary.

REQUIREMENTS FOR TRAVEL TO GALAPAGOS FROM DECEMBER

Foreign tourists, national tourists, and/or Galapagos residents:

After completing the scheme, all passengers over 16 years of age must present the COVID-19 vaccination card with at least 14 days of validity. The negative result of the qualitative real-time RT-PCR test was performed up to 72 hours before boarding.

Children between 2 and 16 must present a negative real-time RT-PCR qualitative test result performed up to 72 hours before shipment.

Transit Control Card – TCT.

According to local and global epidemiological progress, these measures will be evaluated every 30 days for extension or modification.
