October coffee production in Colombia falls 13% from last year

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Colombia produced in October 1.02 million bags of coffee of 60 kilograms, 13% less than the nearly 1.2 million in the same month of 2020, reported Thursday (4) the National Federation of Coffee Growers (FNC).

The entity said that from January to October this year, production was 10.1 million bags, 6% less than the 10.7 million of the comparative period.

In the last 12 months (November 2020-October 2021), coffee production fell by 5% to 13.2 million bags, from almost 13.9 million in the same previous period.

Colombia also recorded a 6% decrease in exports last month to 986,000 bags, in contrast to the almost 1.1 million bags shipped abroad in October 2020.

FNC also reported that, despite this drop, from January to October, coffee exports grew 2% to exceed 10.1 million bags compared to more than 9.9 million in the same period last year.

In the last 12 months, coffee exports amounted to 12.7 million bags, 2% more than the almost 12.5 million bags exported a year earlier.
