Brazil’s Gloria Groove becomes drag queen with most monthly listeners on Spotify worldwide

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Gloria Groove has just reached an even higher status in her career. Thanks to the success of her latest single and music video, “A queda” (The Fall), the performer has become the drag queen with the most monthly listeners worldwide on Spotify.

At the last update, there were 4,074,641 listeners on her Spotify page, which means that more than 4 million people have listened to one of her songs in the previous month.

With an explicit criticism of the spreading cancel culture, “A queda” [“the Fall”] was the second single from Lady East, Groove’s new album, for which there is no release date yet. Since its release on October 14, the song has contradicted its title, climbing increasingly expressive ranks on music and video platforms.

In addition to a privileged position in the top 10 on Spotify Brazil and the top 100 in Portugal, A Queda debuted at number 117 on the Billboard Global 200 Excl US, the global hit parade that lists the 200 biggest hits in the world (excluding the United States) in the last week. This makes the singer the only representative of Brazilian pop music currently occupying this Billboard ranking.

Brazil also has the second most-listened-to drag performer in the world: Pabllo Vittar. The artist once held Gloria’s position but is currently slightly behind her colleague with 4,003,641 monthly listeners. To get an idea of how representative Brazilian artists are, RuPaul, one of the most famous drag queens globally and creator of the reality show Drag Race, has just over 1 million listeners.

SATANIC

A young evangelical spread on social networks a video in which he attributed something “demonic” to the clip “The Fall” by Gloria Groove. The young man analyzes the artist’s work in the images, saying that the lyrics show the “fall of Lucifer”. Clips of the video circulate on social networks such as WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook and have provoked rejection reactions and amused Internet users.

Gleison Goes describes himself as a “former transsexual and a miracle of the Lord Jesus Christ” and has a channel with about 3,600 subscribers on YouTube. “I have never seen a more satanic and evil clip than this in my entire life. I have never seen something so satanic, something so strong, cumbersome, it’s blatant,” begins the young man.
