RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Minister Romay said that “in 2015, national electricity coverage reached 86.5% of the population and it increased to 93.5% in 2019. In the urban area it rose from 97.3% in 2015, to 99% in 2019; and in the rural area from 70.1% to 79.9% in the same time frame.”
On the other hand, he reiterates that “after restoring the democratic government in Bolivia, one of the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Energies’ priorities was to resume power line works for electricity to reach new homes.”
However, he emphasizes that “during the de facto government these projects were not only paralyzed, but were also affected by the disastrous decisions of officials in charge of the National Electricity Company (ENDE) and its subsidiaries.”
