Brazil interest in investing in Paraguay grows

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Union of Brazilian Entrepreneurs in Paraguay (UEBP) and the Paraguay-Brazil Chamber of Commerce (CCPB) are presented as an umbrella of business groups which have already invested capital or have firm intentions to do so in several areas.

UEBP head Rodrigo Maia said that as a union it has secured a direct investment fund from the United States to leverage the projects of each member. “I am talking to banks to channel these funds. When referring to South America, North Americans tend to be somewhat concerned, particularly if Brazil is analyzed as a market,” he said.

However, Wega Aircraft‘s plans helped to show how prepared Paraguay is to receive financial support for high-tech companies, he said.

“We are excited; Paraguay is an excellent opportunity to realize a great dream that, thanks also to the efforts of DINAC and the Air Force, will be certified and approved for military and civilian aircraft,” he added.

Those responsible for the project are also inviting Paraguayan capital so that once manufacturing begins, the first units may be launched on the market in approximately 2 years.

In order to prepare the workforce, contacts have been made with the Polytechnic Faculty of the National University of Asunción, which is currently training the first aeronautical engineers. “We are close to transferring the know-how to Paraguayan professionals,” he said.

EXPO

On the other hand, there are more Paraguayan companies (130) than Brazilian (120) for the next Paraguay-Brazil Expo this week, expected to generate US$80 million in business, according to the Chamber’s spokesperson Junio Dantas. The event will be held online.

He emphasized that much will be learned about Brazilian franchises in this event: there are currently 40 Brazilian brands and companies in Paraguay under this model, and the most common areas present in this edition are agribusiness, services and companies interested in industrial products, he said.

As a paradigm of the interest in investing in Paraguay, he said that Omega Green’s chief executive Erasmo Batistella will be one of the speakers, discussing the US$1.2 billion invested on biofuels in Paraguay, which will start operating in the country from 2024.

ONLINE FORMAT

Expo Paraguay-Brazil 2021 will offer a virtual experience, seeking to promote business between the growing Paraguayan economy and Brazilian companies, in 4 areas: Business Roundtable, which comprises over 250 entrepreneurs from both countries; conferences, with top international speakers; stands with some 100 units from diverse economic sectors; in addition to networking, where participants may access, contact people, exchange cards and create business opportunities.
