First aircraft produced in Paraguay makes exhibition flight

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The ceremony was organized by Brazilian Wega Aircraft, through the Union of Brazilian Entrepreneurs of Paraguay. The aircraft’s performance was displayed through an aerobatic demonstration.

The Wega 180 is a low-wing aircraft that will be used for military and civilian pilot training and aerospace surveillance. It can accommodate 2 crew members, seated side-by-side, including the pilot. The propulsion engine is installed in the nose, which increases its performance in the category, according to DINAC.

Working jointly with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, through Rediex, Wega Aircraft seeks to enter a new industry in the country: aircraft assembly.

“This industry will come to train our people, Paraguayan professionals, an industry that uses state-of-the-art technology. In addition, Paraguay will have the opportunity to become the hub of an industry that will supply nothing more and nothing less than airplanes to all parts of the world,” said Minister of Industry and Commerce Luis Alberto Castiglioni, highlighting that the production of these aircraft will be based on carbon fiber and other state-of-the-art elements.

In addition to Castiglioni, the ceremony was attended by Minister of National Defense Bernardino Soto Estigarribia, DINAC President Félix Kanazawa, Chief of Staff General Arturo González, Wega Aircraft shareholder Paulo Falcao and the chairman of the Union of Brazilian Entrepreneurs of Paraguay Rodrigo Maia.
