Globant acquires Argentina firm specialized in blockchain

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Luxembourg-based technology unicorn Globant, one of the “big three” tech disruptors that were founded in Argentina and have since expanded rapidly into Latin America and around the world, has announced the acquisition of Atix Labs, an Argentine professional services company specializing in the use of blockchain, it said in a statement.

The acquisition, the amount of which has not been disclosed, will help Globant expand its offering in the blockchain market, which is expected to increase tenfold in size by 2025.

It will also allow the company to continue developing new solutions for its clients in different business verticals, such as media and entertainment, finance, real estate, healthcare, or supply chains.

Founded in Argentina in 2013, Atix Labs maintains operations in the United States, Argentina, and Uruguay. It has among its clients some of the leading players in the world of cryptocurrencies and organizations such as IDB.

With more than 60 employees, the firm also maintains partnerships with RSK, IOHK, the Cardano Foundation, and IBM and being within the Unicef Innovation Fund.

For his part, Atix Labs CEO Ailin Gonzalez highlighted that Globant would be an “ideal” partner to meet its future goals from both a commercial and operational capability standpoint. “We look forward to this partnership and the many opportunities it brings,” she added.
