TikTok to launch marketplace in Brazil connecting companies and content creators

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Social network TikTok will be introducing its Creator Marketplace in Brazil in the coming weeks to allow brands to connect with content producers that most closely align with their values.

In its announcement, made during its first global event, TikTok World, the company said that brands have become “a fun part” of the platform experience, adding that users “like to engage with the brands they love.”

The launch of the Creator Marketplace joins a number of new services for businesses launched by the Chinese social network.

Among them are the option for brands to post open campaign summaries to engage content creators, tools for them to tag and post companies’ advertising videos, and also pages for businesses that load faster.

LIVE EVENTS

According to the social network, the United States, Brazil and Southeast Asia are the platform’s largest markets. The social network is offering other tools for business in several markets, including the option of live commercial events, sharing links to products in real time, uploading products, and managing deliveries.

On Monday, the social network announced that it reached the 1 billion monthly active users worldwide mark by mid-year, a 45% growth since July 2020, 4 years after it was launched by Chinese company ByteDance.

The video platform has added over 300 million users since July 2020, according to the latest data release by the company. Popular before the pandemic, mainly thanks to its viral choreographies, TikTok has benefited from people’s confinement, school closures, and home office, capturing more users.

The company is looking to move into advertising, and in late August also launched a new feature that allows its users to directly purchase products proposed by content creators.
