Changes in Argentina cabinet do not stop decline in polls of ruling Frente de Todos party

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The changes in the cabinet promoted by the Argentine President, Alberto Fernández, after the bad results in the primary elections for the ruling party, have not been able to stop the fall in the polls of his coalition, the Frente de Todos, which would obtain 26% in the next legislative elections on November 14, according to a survey published this Monday.

This figure is three points less than in the same survey carried out in June by the Solomoirago company and four points less than the votes obtained in the primaries of last September 12, according to the newspaper ‘Clarín’.

To the question “In this year’s legislative elections, are you closer to vote for…?”, 26 percent assure that they will vote for Frente de Todos and 66 percent will vote for the opposition, in general, without specifying any specific party, over 14 points more than in June.

The survey also asks about the valuation of the leaders of the ruling and opposition parties. In the first group, Vice President Cristina Kirchner leads the ranking (28.6 percent), followed by Axel Kicillof (26.7 percent) and Alberto Fernández (26.4 percent).

In the opposition, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta (51.9 percent), Patricia Bullrich (49.2 percent), María Eugenia Vidal (47.4 percent) and Mauricio Macri (42.8 percent) stand out.

Furthermore, 68.1 percent of those polled see Cristina Fernández as the “responsible for the government’s crisis”. In comparison, the President accumulates only 6.1 percent, 6.1 percent blames the opposition, and 6 percent, “the media”.

When asked who they consider the ruling party leader, Cristina Fernández has 89.8 percent, compared to 5.3 percent for Alberto Fernández.

The survey is based on 2,200 interviews carried out between September 19 and 23. The government crisis was announced on September 17.
