RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – In the month of August, the domestic market flew over 5.5 million passengers in terminals across Brazil, 30.2% less than in the pre-pandemic August of 2019. In the year-to-date, airlines have transported 35 million travelers.
Aircraft occupancy stood at 80.1%, down 2.9% compared to 2019. Domestic cargo transported in the month totaled 33,461 tons, down 11.3% compared to 2019.

In the 8th month of the year, demand and supply for flights shrank by 76.4% and 65.5%, respectively, compared to the same period in 2019. On the other hand, cargo and mail transportation posted 25.5% growth.
The agency has compared these indicators with the same period in 2019, given the extraordinary low turnover posted in 2020 due to the pandemic.
