Colombia’s July export revenues increased by 27.4% compared to July 2020

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Colombia’s exports in July 2021 was $3,252 million and presented an increase of 27.4% compared to the results of the same month of 2020, informed this Monday the National Department of Statistics (DANE).

This result was mainly explained by the growth of 32.6% in the external sales of the Fuels group and products of extractive industries that participated with 40.3 % of the total value of exports.

This was followed by exports of Manufactures, with 25.6%; Agriculture, food, and beverages, with 25%, and other sectors with 9.1%.

DANE information also shows that in July 2021, 8.7 million barrels of crude oil were exported, which represented a drop of -44.6% compared to July 2020.

In July 2021, exports of Fuels and products of extractive industries were $1,309 million, those of Manufactures were $834 million, and those of Agricultural products, food, and beverages were $813 million.

In addition, in the seventh month of this year, compared to July 2020, the growth of external sales of other sectors (2.6%) was mainly explained by the increase in sales of non-monetary gold that added 2.3 percentage points to the variation of the group.

In July 2021, the United States was the main destination of Colombian exports, with a share of 28.6% in the total value exported. It was followed by the shares of China (10.3%), Ecuador (6.2%), Brazil (4.7%), Chile (3.5%), Mexico (3.5%), and Turkey (2.9%).

In the January-July period of this year, Colombian exports amounted to 21,294 million dollars and recorded an increase of 20.1%, compared to the same period in 2020.

During the first seven months of the year, exports of the group of Fuels and products of extractive industries were 9,590 million dollars and increased 17.3% compared to the same period of 2020.

In addition, external sales of Agricultural products, food, and beverages were 5,232 million. They presented a growth of 16.6%, and those of Manufactures were $4,663 million and registered an increase of 26.2%. In comparison, the increase in exports of other sectors (31.8%) was mainly explained by the increase in sales of non-monetary gold.
