Nestlé resumes chocolate production in Argentina after 20 years

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Food and beverage manufacturer Nestlé resumed chocolate production in Argentina after 20 years, and to this end it worked together with local suppliers in order to add value to the company’s entire production chain in the country.

“For the launching of Nestlé Maní in Argentina, the company worked jointly with a co-manufacturer, who produces the product. This agreement is part of the company’s commitment to continue developing local suppliers, boosting domestic production and adding value to the entire production chain,” Nestlé’s executive director of the chocolate business Natalia Silva said.

The executive assured that “Argentina is a growing market with many opportunities,” and stressed that “Nestlé has been present in the country for 90 years.”

“And we are more committed than ever to the country’s development. This is what we did with the production of condensed milk, which resumed production in 2018 in our plant in Firmat (Santa Fe); or this year innovating in the dairy industry through value-added products such as organic milk and A2 milk and working together with producers in the interior of the country to be able to accomplish this,” Silva stressed.

She also explained that “for the moment Nestlé Maní’s production will be entirely destined to be marketed in Argentina,” although she indicated that “as a company present in over 186 countries, Nestlé is able to meet the needs of consumers at a global level with products produced locally.”

“Therefore, we have great expectations and we are confident in growing in volume to add new markets,” the executive said, adding that “with the aim of promoting local production, we are encouraging the development of local suppliers and seeking to improve their competitiveness in the production chain.”

Silva pointed out that “the goal is to add value by processing raw materials into local products while helping suppliers develop their strength and efficiency.”

“In the case of chocolates, our co-manufacturer is from Buenos Aires, but we are aiming to incorporate suppliers from all over the country, depending on the product category. The goal is to contribute to the industry by increasing our national production with the aim of developing in Argentina for the next 90 years, to continue building a future together,” Silva concluded.
