Argentina’s Buenos Aires province introduces health passport

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL –  “Vaccination is the solution to increase commercial activity in the province. Starting Monday we will incorporate the Covid Passport, which will enable businesses to increase their capacity by 20% with Buenos Aires citizens vaccinated at least 21 days before with the first dose,” wrote the ex-mayor of La Matanza Verónica Magario on Twitter.

Following the decision, anyone vaccinated who intends to access the interior of authorized establishments in the region will be required to show proof of their inoculation.

The document may be displayed on cell phones or with the vaccination credential issued in each health facility after its administration.

The “Vacuna-te PBA” and “Mi Argentina” apps will display the digital certificate attesting to vaccination.

The city of Buenos Aires, a separate jurisdiction from the surrounding province, is also considering the possibility of implementing the Health Passport for circulation and commercial operation in the Federal Capital.

Only a week ago, Buenos Aires Minister of Health Fernán Quirós said that “details are still required to determine how it will be implemented, but they are widely used worldwide to guarantee the safety of people in social contact and also to encourage those who are considering whether to be vaccinated or not.”
