According to a report by Portuguese SIC television network, witnesses reported that Froede was in a house together with several other people when the shooting occurred.

Witnesses stated that two people ran out of the house right after the shooting, and a group of locals tried to stop them from fleeing. However, reports in the Portuguese press also state that a man reacted by shooting at the group that was chasing him.

The suspects eventually managed to escape through the narrow Alfama streets, a region known for its bohemian atmosphere and many narrow alleys and stairs.

A video filmed by residents shows the moment when at least four people, speaking in Brazilian Portuguese, tried to help the victim, carrying Froede through the neighborhood’s streets.

Citing police sources, Portuguese press reports state that the young man had been abandoned wounded in the street. Rescued by an ambulance, he reached the hospital alive but did not survive his injuries.

Different accounts of the crime and its motives have been spreading in Brazilian community groups on social networks. Questioned by the report, the Judiciary Police has not yet commented.
