This new company will use the Ampli platform, created by Kroton last year through a R$240 (US$46) million investment and which has 15,000 students enrolled. The brand seeks TIM’s 50 million client base to grow.

Kroton estimates that it will be able to increase its annual intake of students in Distance Learning by 20%, which exceeded 400,000 students in 2020. The monthly tuition fee at Ampli is R$150.

The announcement further notes that through a compensation mechanism based on goals, TIM may become a minority shareholder with up to 30% of the new company’s capital, depending on how many students it manages to attract.

“With this partnership, we take an important step in solidifying our purpose, providing access to quality education through the high penetration of cell phones among the Brazilian population, irrespective of location and at an affordable cost,” said Kroton’s CEO Roberto Valério.

TIM Brasil’s CEO Pietro Labriola, on the other hand, associated the new partnership with a commitment to ESG practices. “Our main goal is to help democratize higher education in Brazil via technology, supported by the country’s largest 4G network,” he said.
