Paraguay breaks daily record with 152 Covid-19 deaths (June 27)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Paraguay registered 152 Covid-19 deaths on Sunday, June 27, its highest daily figure, bringing the total number of deaths to 12,517 since the start of the pandemic, according to the Ministry of Health’s report.

The country accumulated 2 consecutive days with record numbers, with 150 deaths on Saturday and 152 on Sunday, totaling 302 deaths over the weekend.

In the past 24 hours, 1,487 new infections were also confirmed, bringing the number of positive coronavirus cases to 418,330 since March 2020. Hospitals and health centers have 3,445 hospitalized patients, 540 of whom in intensive care.

Paraguay will start vaccinating people aged 50 and over on Monday, June 28, and expects new vaccine deliveries throughout the month of July.

Health Ministry data show that over 665,000 people have been administered at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine since February 2022, when the immunization plan kicked off in Paraguay.
