Brazil’s Sírio-Libanês Hospital adopts contingency system after Fleury cyber attack

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The hospital announced that its teams are “working to quickly remedy potential delays in examinations,” while Fleury gradually reestablishes its services.

The cyber attack that took Fleury Group’s systems offline on Tuesday, June 22, placed all 29 hospitals served by the diagnostic medicine group, such as Sírio-Libanês Hospital and 14 units of the Rede D’Or São Luiz, on a manual or contingency basis to perform exams.

In a statement, Sírio-Libanês informed that its teams are “working to remedy quickly potential delays in examinations,” while Fleury gradually reestablishes its services.

Since the beginning of the cyber attack, the hospital advised that it has been served by a backup system that allows the continuity of laboratory tests.

On Thursday morning, June 24, Fleury Group reported that the hospitals’ service systems had been restored.

“As part of the updates on the unavailability of our systems, caused by the attempted cyber attack, we announce that we have reestablished our services in hospitals, an effort that has been prioritized by our organization since the beginning of this incident given the critical requirements for inpatient care,” the company said in a statement.

Sírio-Libanês also highlighted that its “systems were not affected and that there are no impacts in the release of reports of imaging exams and other tests performed by our patients.”
