RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet denounced today before the UN Human Rights Council the deterioration of the situation in Nicaragua, which, according to her, makes it impossible for Nicaraguans to have free elections in November.
“For three years this Council has analyzed in depth the human rights situation affecting Nicaragua (…), but this situation not only shows no signs of being overcome but has worsened alarmingly,” said the former Chilean president in her speech.
