RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazilians have preferred to watch comedy movies rather than other genres that were once their favorites – such as animated films. This is what a Telecine survey shows.
“Minha Mãe É Uma Peça 3” had the greatest growth in streaming: the comedy starring Paulo Gustavo – who died in early May from complications of Covid-19 – had a 56% increase in views between 2020 and 2021, reaching a total of 2.5 million views.
In second place appears “Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw” with a growth of 26% and a total of 2.4 million views.
Last in the “Top 3” is “Pets: The Secret Life of Beasts 2” with almost 2 million views.
Despite leading in total views, children’s animation has lost luster, with a growth of only 20% over the past year.
