Alberto Fernández says Brazil and Argentina are “inseparable people”

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Argentine President Alberto Fernández said Tuesday, May 18, that Argentina and Brazil should not “separate” and that they have to “make a great effort” to complement each other and grow at an event announcing investments by a Brazilian firm in Argentina.

“Brazil and Argentina are inseparable people. We are absolutely united, and nothing should keep us apart”, said Fernández, who added that in times of pandemic, “we must be more united than ever.”

He praised the Argentine ambassador in Brazil, Daniel Scioli, when Argentina and Brazil maintain different visions on the direction of Mercosur, while their presidents maintain a relationship with several differences.

“He helps me to solve many problems that Argentina and Brazil face. And many challenges,” he said. “Because Argentina and Brazil are a common geographical and economic space,” he called for “a great effort” to complement both countries “to be able to grow” and develop, and to make Brazilians “trust Argentina, invest in Argentina and provide jobs in Argentina”.

Fernández made these statements at a ceremony to announce investments in one of the two plants that the Brazilian ‘Grupo Dass’ has in the country, in the town of Eldorado, in the province of Misiones, where it produces footwear and sports apparel.

“Believe more in us as we believe more in you because this is the opportunity we have,” said Fernández.

Grupo Dass manufactures and markets footwear, clothing, and sports accessories of the Tryon, Fila, and Umbro brands in Brazil, and has agreements to produce for brands such as Nike, Adidas, Asics, Converse, Reebok, and Under Armour. It has more than 15,000 employees in 12 units, located in Brazil and Argentina, according to an official statement.
