Amazon.com in Brazil to start delivering same-day orders in São Paulo

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – According to the US e-commerce giant, the service is available for some items, with shipping costs starting at R$14.90 for Prime members and R$18.90 for the remainder.

The announcement illustrates how the offer of shorter delivery times has been one of the biggest bets among the largest e-commerce companies in the country, since the closing of physical stores due to social isolation measures has pushed consumers to digital sales channels.

Last November, Amazon announced the opening of three more logistics centers in Brazil, bringing the total number of warehouses in the country to eight.

On the same month, its rival and leader in Latin America, Mercado Libre, also announced the opening of five new logistics centers in Brazil, which accounts for over half of its revenues.

“The launch of same-day delivery is an important milestone for Amazon in Brazil,” Amazon Brazil’s Prime and Delivery Experience leader Mariana Roth said in a statement
