Presidential election Ecuador: results of exit polls very close to a technical tie

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Candidate Andres Arauz valued the results offered by two pollsters that pointed to a technical tie in the elections in Ecuador and assured that “when the official results arrive there will be no such margin of error.”

In a statement before his supporters gathered at the headquarters of his alliance, Union For Hope (UNES), in Quito, he said that “they will be official results and not a statistical calculation.”

The results of the exit polls concluded with results very close to a technical tie. While one pollster points to a victory of the center-right Guillermo Lasso by more than 6 percentage points, the other has not published results because they are within the margin of error.

The Cedatos poll, with a margin of error of 2.2%, places conservative candidate Guillermo Lasso in the lead with 53.24% of the electorate’s favor over Arauz, who, according to the pollster, has 46.76% of the votes.

Cedatos, which is identified with Lasso’s campaign, surveyed 34,000 voters selected by gender, sex, and age in each electoral precinct, explained its director, Polibio Córdova, to the local media.

Clima Social, which is identified with Correism, shows a technical tie between both candidates favoring Arauz with 50.8% and Lasso with 49.2%, a margin of error of less than 1.5% 13,820 respondents in the 24 provinces of the country.

“We, as you know, have a computer center that is just now beginning to receive the data,” said Arauz, who advanced that in Asian and European jurisdictions, voters have favored his presidential option.
