RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – According to the e-commerce giant, the service is available for some items, with shipping costs starting at R$14.90 for Prime members and R$18.90 for the remainder.
The announcement illustrates how offering shorter delivery times has been one of the biggest strategies adopted by the largest e-commerce companies in the country, since the closing of physical stores due to social isolation measures has pushed consumers to digital sales channels.
Last November, Amazon announced the opening of three more logistics centers in Brazil, bringing the total number of warehouses in the country to eight. Its rival and leader in Latin America, Mercado Libre, also announced that same month the opening of five new logistics centers in Brazil, which accounts for more than half of its revenues.
“The launch of same-day delivery is an important milestone for Amazon in Brazil,” Amazon Brazil’s Prime and Delivery Experience leader Mariana Roth said in a statement.
