RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Colombia is moving forward with its immunization plan, but at a slow pace. The vaccination rate has fallen in the last two weeks by more than 80.56%.

The average number of shots applied since March 10th shows that the country is progressing at a rate close to 66,751 daily doses on average.

Colombia is below the world average when reviewing the number of shots per 100 inhabitants, according to data from the organization Our World In Data. While the world average is 5.76, Colombia reaches 2.39, well below the South American average of 6.44.

The Health Ministry said earlier that one of the most important challenges is reaching the remote regions with the vaccination campaign.

In the coming days and weeks, logistics could become more complex and the goal of continuing with daily immunization rates above 100,000 could be affected.
