By 6 PM on Monday, 7,138,282 doses had already been administered, totaling 5,933,678 people vaccinated. Of these, 1,204,604 people received the second shot and completed the vaccination scheme. Worldwide, 206,563,856 vaccines have already been administered.

Proportionally, Israel is the country with the highest number of vaccines administered, with 78.38 doses per 100 inhabitants. Next come the Seychelles (67.77), the United Arab Emirates (51.67), the UK (27.24), the Maldives (20.16), and the USA (19.33). Brazil is 46th in this ranking, with 3.15 doses administered per 100 inhabitants.

Among its South American neighbors, Brazil leads in absolute numbers of doses administered. However, in terms of proportions, Chile tops the list, with 15.13 doses per 100 inhabitants. Despite a number almost five times lower than Chile, Brazil is second on the list, followed by Argentina, with only 1.6 doses per 100 inhabitants.

Over the past week, the speed of vaccination has been substantially reduced in Brazil, due to a shortage of doses. The scenario tends to improve soon, although it will probably still fall short of the country’s capacity to immunize 1 million people per day.

On Tuesday, February 23rd, 2 million ready doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine are to land, imported from India’s Serum Institute. On the same date, the Butantan Institute starts delivering another 3.4 million doses of the CoronaVac to the Ministry of Health. According to the institute, approximately 426,000 doses will be released each day.
