Chile Jobless Rate Eases to 10.3% for October-December

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Chile’s unemployment rate further eased to 10.3% between October and December, the government said on Friday, January 29th, remaining nonetheless significantly above the same period the previous year as the coronavirus pandemic continued to weigh on the economy.

Unemployment in Chile, the world’s top copper producer, has fallen for five consecutive months after hitting a decade-long high of 13.1% in July, during the peak of the pandemic. The jobless rate during the September to November period was 10.8%.
