Tel-Aviv University Offers Exclusive Scholarships to Brazilians

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The University of Tel-Aviv is offering exclusive scholarships to Brazilians in its undergraduate and graduate programs through the Brazilian Scholarship Fund (BSF), a fund created by the Friends of Brazil organization of Tel-Aviv University. Scholarships may cover the course’s full fees, depending on the program selected by the student. Applications are open until May 31st.

Brazilians wanting to take a BSc course in electrical and electronic engineering may apply for scholarships covering up to 100% of the course fees. Full scholarships are also offered to Brazilians interested in undergraduate courses taught in Hebrew. Brazilians who wish to take a BA in liberal arts (multidisciplinary course in humanities) at the university may apply for scholarships covering up to 50% of the course fees.

The BSc and BA are courses equivalent to degrees in Brazil. The first focuses on electrical and electronic engineering; the second focuses on humanities and social sciences. There are also several undergraduate courses taught in Hebrew, and “master’s programs” equivalent to Brazilian master’s degrees.

Regarding the master’s degree, the university offers scholarships covering up to 50% for two new programs: Cyber politics & government and developing countries. Furthermore, the institution also has scholarships covering up to 40% of its Masters in International Law.

How to Apply for Tel-Aviv University Scholarships

The program application process may be conducted online, through a link. For all programs, applicants must certify a minimum English level through the TOEFL test (minimum score: 582 for written exam, 223 for computer exam, or IBT of 89) IELTS (score 6.5 in all components, level B2) or Duolingo online testing, accepted during the pandemic (score 105). Candidates interested in the programs taught in Hebrew will also need to attest to advanced Hebrew.

The following documents must also be provided as part of the application:

An official report card (with Sworn Translation)
Essays (quantity and specific requirements per program)
Letters of recommendation (quantity and specific requirements per program)
Certificate of Physical Fitness

For degree programs, SAT or ACT test scores are typically required. But during the pandemic the TAU has relaxed requirements regarding these exams and are accepting only the analysis of academic records. Essays must also be produced according to each program.

A form must be filled for the scholarship, available through a link. In it, personal data, the chosen program, and a short text about the applicant’s recent achievements and why the applicant is the right person to be awarded the scholarship must be provided.

In most cases, the university works with rolling admissions, which means that it is possible to apply at any time. For students wanting to start in 2021, however, it is recommended to apply by May 31st, 2021. The exception is the Masters in International Law, which is open only until March 15th, 2021.
