Bolsonaro’s Gallstone Surgery Ends without Complications

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – On Friday, September 25th, President Jair Bolsonaro‘s surgery was performed in one and a half hours and ended with no complications. According to the medical report provided by the Albert Einstein Israeli Hospital, the gallstone was fully removed.

Bolsonaro is clinically stable, with no fever or pain.

The procedure was endoscopic, that is, with no incisions. To remove the stone, also called calculus, a probe is placed into the urethra. A very small device with a camera and a laser is introduced through the probe.

The President arrived in São Paulo on Friday morning and was admitted to the hospital at 7 AM. The President is expected to return to Brasília this Saturday, September 26th.

About a month ago, when Bolsonaro announced he needed surgery, he said he had a gallstone for over five years and that he was used to it.

“This calculus here is familiar to me. I’ve had it for over five years. It’s in my bladder and it’s bigger than a bean. And I decided to remove it because it must be injuring the bladder internally,” he explained.
