RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – There is a total of 4,147,794 cumulative cases of Covid-19 in Brazil. In the past 24 hours, another 10,273 people have been diagnosed with the disease. On Sunday, September 6th, the pandemic data system reported 4,137,521 cases since the start of the pandemic.
The data are in included in the Ministry of Health’s daily update, released on Monday evening, September 7th. The report consolidates data submitted by all state Health Secretariats in the country.
According to the update, the number of deaths caused by the novel coronavirus pandemic rose to 126,960. In the past 24 hours, 310 more deaths by Covid-19 were registered. On Sunday, the Ministry of Health’s panel recorded 126,650 deaths. There are a further 2,506 deaths under investigation.
The figures on Sundays and Mondays are lower due to challenges in feeding data by the Health Secretariat teams. On Tuesdays, the figure has typically been higher due to the sending of data accumulated over the weekend.
Also according to this Monday’s update, 665,270 people are under follow-up and 3,355,564 have already recovered.
States
São Paulo, with 31,377 deaths, is the state with the highest number of fatalities, followed by Rio de Janeiro, with 16,593; Ceará, with 8,566; Pernambuco, with 7,721; and Pará, with 6,257.
The states with fewest lives lost to date are Roraima (598); Acre (624); Amapá (673); Tocantins (754), and Mato Grosso do Sul (970).
