Brazil Counts 117,666 Deaths and 3.7 Million Cumulative Cases (August 26th)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazil has reached 117,666 deaths and 3,717,156 cumulative Covid-19 cases. The data were released yesterday, August 26th, by the Ministry of Health during an online interview to introduce the weekly Epidemiological Bulletin.

In the past 24 hours, 1,086 new deaths were recorded. On Tuesday, the Ministry of Health’s system registered 116,580 fatalities. There are still 2,889 deaths under investigation by Health Secretariat teams.

The Ministry’s report also registered 47,161 new infections with the novel coronavirus. Yesterday, the portfolio’s panel contained 3,669,995 cases since the start of the pandemic in Brazil.

Still according to yesterday’s update, 690,642 people are under follow-up and another 2,908,848 have already recovered from the disease.

The states with the highest number of Covid-19 deaths were São Paulo (29,194), Rio de Janeiro (15,700), Ceará (8,351), Pernambuco (7,460), and Pará (6,097).

The states with the fewest deaths to date are Roraima (582), Acre (607), Tocantins (621), Amapá (647), and Mato Grosso do Sul (783).
