Brazil Records Over 50,000 Confirmed Cases of Covid-19 (April 24th)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazil has confirmed 52,995 cases, according to the Ministry of Health’s update released yesterday, April 24th. In 24 hours a further 3,503 infections were added to the statistics, an increase of 7.1 percent over the previous day when 49,492 confirmed cases were reported.

The number of deaths rose to 3,670, with 357 more deaths between Thursday and Friday, an increase of 10.8 percent. It was the second-highest number of new deaths in 24 hours, falling just under Thursday’s figures, with 407 added deaths.

São Paulo remains the epicenter of the pandemic in the country, accounting for the highest number of deaths (1,512). The state is followed by Rio de Janeiro (570), Pernambuco (352), Ceará (284) and Amazonas (255).

In addition, deaths were recorded in Maranhão (88), Pará (75), Paraná (64), Bahia (64), Minas Gerais (54), Paraíba (40), Espírito Santo (42), Santa Catarina (42), and Rio Grande do Norte (38), Rio Grande do Sul (31), Alagoas (27), Federal District (26), Goiás (24), Amapá (18), Piauí (16), Acre (11), Sergipe (8), Mato Grosso do Sul (7), Rondônia (5), Roraima (3) and Tocantins (2).
