Brazil Records 2,575 Deaths and 40,581 Coronavirus Cases (April 20th)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Ministry of Health released on Monday, April 20th, the most recent balance of coronavirus cases in Brazil. The main data are:

  • 2,575 deaths – on Sunday, there were 2,462, an increase of 5.6 percent and 113 more deaths;
  • 40,581 confirmed cases – on Sunday, it was 38,654, an increase of five percent;
  • The mortality rate stands at 6.3 percent.
The states with the highest number of confirmed deaths are: São Paulo (1,037), Rio de Janeiro (422), Pernambuco (234), Ceará (198), and Amazonas (185).

In seven days there were 1,043 more deaths (68 percent increase). São Paulo records 1,037 deaths and 14,580 confirmed cases.

The states with the highest number of confirmed deaths are: São Paulo (1,037), Rio de Janeiro (422), Pernambuco (234), Ceará (198), and Amazonas (185).

On Monday, the Ministry of Health reported that São Paulo had a total of 1,307 Covid-19 deaths. In a note, the portfolio corrected the figure to 1,037 and, thus, also corrected the total number of deaths in the country from 2,845 to 2,545.
