In New Record, Brazil Counts 204 Covid-19 Deaths in 24 hours

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazil saw a new record for Covi-19 deaths on Tuesday, April 14th, with 204 fatalities from the disease within 24 hours, an increase of 15 percent over the preceding day. In total, the country records 1,532 confirmed deaths so far.

According to the Ministry of Health, Brazil has a total of 25,262 confirmed Covid-19 cases. Between Monday and Tuesday, 1,832 new cases were recorded, an increase of eight percent in one day. As a result, the oficial mortality rate is 6.1 percent, although most researchers believe it is much lower, as Brazil only confirms cases of persons with serious conditions.

The state with the highest number of cases is São Paulo (9,371), followed by Rio de Janeiro (3,419), Ceará (2,005), Amazonas (1,484), Pernambuco (1,284), Minas Gerais (884) and Santa Catarina (826).
