Ambev to Produce 500,000 Units of Hand Sanitizer and Donate to Public Hospitals

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – On Tuesday, March 17th, the Ambev announced that it will produce 500,000 units of hand sanitizer to be distributed to public hospitals in the states of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro and in the Federal District, where there are more confirmed cases of the new coronavirus.

Each health unit will be supplied with 5,000 bottles.

The company will use the brewery production line in Piraí, Rio de Janeiro, to produce ethanol and 500,000 packages. “Considering that one of the restrictions for the replacement of the product in the market is the packaging, Ambev will provide the hand sanitizer in PET bottles like the ones used for its beverages, which today are not in shortage”, it explains.

The ethanol will come from the brewing process and production of the Brahma 0.0, the company’s alcohol-free beer. The delivery logistics in the three units of the federation will also be conducted by Ambev.
