Bolsonaro Tested for Coronavirus; Result Scheduled for Friday, March 13th

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro, was tested for the Covid-19 coronavirus on Thursday, March 12th.

The result will come out on Friday, 13th. The doctors fear that the President may be asymptomatic, that is, infected, despite not displaying any symptoms.

Until the test is completed, the President is advised to remain at the Alvorada Palace. Bolsonaro turns 65 on March 21st.

The examination was carried out after the government’s Secretary of Communication, Fabio Wajngarten, tested positive for the disease. He traveled with the President to the United States and spent a great deal of time at his side.

Other members of the delegation who traveled to the United States are also being called to take the test.

Ministers Ernesto Araújo (Foreign Relations), Augusto Heleno (Office of Institutional Security), Fernando Azevedo e Silva (Defense) and Bento Albuquerque (Mines and Energy) were in the delegation.

Also traveling were Senators Nelsinho Trad and Jorginho Mello; Deputies Eduardo Bolsonaro and Daniel Freitas, Special Advisor Filipe Martins, Embratur President Gilson Machado, and Special Secretary of Fisheries Jorge Seif Jr.

Wajngarten and Bolsonaro joined the President of the United States, Donald Trump, for dinner in Mar-a-Lago, South Florida on Saturday. This Thursday, Trump said he was not concerned.
