Brazil’s Postal Service Launches Option to Deliver Package Orders to Neighbor

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Correios (Brazil’s Postal Services) customers now have the option of having their orders delivered to their neighbor.

The feature was launched last week and allows the sender to provide an alternative address, close to the recipient, for package delivery at no additional cost.

According to the company, the measure meets a recurring suggestion from customers and will simplify the delivery of packages, even in the absence of the recipient at the main address. The option is available for the whole country and covers exclusively the Sedex and PAC deliveries.

The sender must state on the mailing label that delivery to a neighbor is allowed, according to the Order Addressing Guide. The Correios has advised that address labels other than those provided by SEDEX are not accepted.

The address provided may be up to two houses to the right or left or opposite the main address. In buildings, any apartment may be listed for delivery.

Another tracking system function has also been recently implemented by the Correios. Now customers are also advised of the expected delivery date.

The feature is available on the Correios’ website for domestic parcels and postal deliveries (economy and express) and will soon be accessible on the Correios App and will cover international mailings and other trackable services.
