In the study published by Sleep magazine, researchers analyzed sleep habits and urine samples in over 20,000 adults in the United States and China. They found that people who slept six hours on average were up to 59 percent more likely to be dehydrated than adults who slept eight hours.

According to research, vasopressin, a hormone that regulates the body’s state of hydration, is released more quickly at the end of the sleep cycle. If you wake up earlier, you may be causing the body to lose moisture.
