RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – A serious accident took the lives of four women and left an injured person on BR-282 in São José do Cerrito, in the Santa Catarina mountains. The crash involving two cars occurred on Tuesday night, February 25th, in the Salto dos Marianos region.
According to the Federal Highway Police (PRF), the fatal victims were driving a GM Onyx, with Dois Vizinhos plates, in the southwest of Paraná, and crossing the highway when they crashed head-on with a Toyota RAV4 with plates from Erechim (RS).
The driver, Bruna Santos, 25, and her three friends, identified as Ana Carolina Basso, Paloma Corrêa and Bruna Silvestro, all 26 years old, died in the accident. Bruna was rescued alive, but died during the early morning in the ICU of Nossa Senhora dos Prazeres Hospital, in Lages (SC).
In the SUV there was only the driver, 60 years old, who was rushed by the SAMU team to Lages Hospital. According to the Fire Department, his condition was not critical.
According to the report, the friends were returning from the Santa Catarina coast after the Carnaval holiday. The bodies were collected by the Santa Catarina Medical Examiner’s Office and were taken to Dois Vizinhos, where the funeral should take place.
