The DownDetector site, which specializes in recording digital platform failures, has already recorded thousands of complaints.

The graph indicates that the problems started at around 08:00 AM. Some users are still unable to send or receive messages, while others say that the system returned at around 09:40. Many tried to contact WhatsApp, but for now there are no official explanations as to why the crash occurred.

Another message is also displayed: “The image could not be downloaded. Try again. If the problem persists, try turning off Wi-Fi or VPN, or connect to another Wi-Fi network”.

WhatsApp belongs to Facebook and is the most used application in Brazil. There were 120 million users connected to the messaging system, according to a number released by the company in 2017. In the market, the total is expected to be even higher today.
