Today: Day-long “Mais Rio” Festival at Fundição Progresso in Rio de Janeiro

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – This Saturday, December 7th, from 9:30 AM to 6 PM, the ‘Mais Rio’ (‘More Rio’) Festival will take place at Fundição Progresso in downtown Rio.

Promoted by CBN radio network, the event is free and aims to encourage Rio residents to look after the city and features a variety of shows, workshops, and debates.

In the special program, singer Pedro Luís, comedians Paulinho Serra and Helio de La Peña, the women of ‘Que Elas Querem’ Samba and many other attractions.

A whole day of talks with the presence of special guests.

In a different format, the CBN Rio program, hosted by Bianca Santos, will be broadcast directly from the event, in partnership with Frederico Goulart.

The event will feature a debate on economics, politics, and education with comments by Flávia Oliveira, Berenice Seara, and reporter Ermelinda Rita, and will be attended by Jaciana Melquíades, representative of the sustainable entrepreneurship project ‘Era uma vez o mundo’ (‘Once upon a time there was the world’), Alessandra Orofino, founder of the NGO ‘Meu Rio’, and the girls Mc Martina and Winona Evelyn who will be performing a poetry slam.

Singer Pedro Luís will provide the musical rhythm, well-knownfor his work on the Brazilian music scene and at the head of ‘Monobloco’.

After a quick lunch break, the exchanges will continue at two special tables. In ‘Rio com Sabor’ (‘Rio with Flavor’), Bianca and Frederico will host Marcella Sobral, a commentator for ‘CBN Gastronomia’ (‘CBN Gastronomy’), who will be paired with chef Kátia Barbosa, from ‘Aconchego Carioca’, and Pedro de Artagão, from the Irajá Group.

The audience may prepare to laugh without moderation: The table ‘Rio with humor’, with the comedians Paulinho Serra and Helio de La Peña, idealizing a much more amusing new year for the state.

And to wrap it up in style, a perfect combination: ‘Rio with samba’. A round of samba projects will join artists engaged in different samba projects in the city, such as Nego Álvaro, João Martins, Mingo Silva, Jorge Alexandre, Welington Luiz, Leo Fernandes, Pipa Vieira, Pedrinho Ferreira and the members of ‘Que Elas Querem’, a samba round made up only of women.

Meanwhile, several workshops will be held simultaneously in designated areas. Among the activities, there will be aerial acrobatics, production of Mangueira props, planting, clown school, recycling and educational activities for children with the presence of YouTuber Léo Megga, in addition to children’s shows and circus performances.

Also on Saturday, the Sustainable Foundry Market will take place, from 11 AM to 8 PM, in tune with events and initiatives from Lapa, such as the Lavradio Street Fair. The Sustainable Foundry Market features several exhibitors of agroecology products, art/culture and promotes public awareness about actions in favor of the environment.
