RIO DE JANEIRO – The Carioca group Fino Coletivo will promote its newest album, “Copacabana”, alongside DJ Janot at the Festa Verde e Amarelo (Green and Yellow Party) this Saturday, June 19th at Teatro Odisseia in Lapa. Their second full length album, it marks a historic new platform for the release of music, being made available for free as an application through iTunes by record label Oi Musica, a division of communications giant Oi.

After the group’s successful eponymous debut album, “Fino Coletivo” was released in 2007, their latest work has already received high praise for continuing their reputation for original, authentic and truly Carioca music without falling into the typical clichés sometimes associated with samba and bossa nova.

After the band’s received the “Best Group” award from the São Paulo Association of Art Critics (APCA) in 2007, the pressure was being felt for the band to create another masterpiece, and despite delays the music world eagerly anticipated the next album release. Thus far, it seems that fans and critics alike are pleased with what “Copacabana” has to offer.

The album was produced by Oi Música, a subsidiary of Oi, Brazil’s largest telecommunications company. The record company was created with the objective to promote new talents on Oi’s multimedia platforms and give up and coming national and international artists an opportunity to produce albums without huge pressure on commercial sales.

In line with the umbrella company’s constant fight to stay at the leading edge of technology, Oi Música’s methods to promote its clients are truly revolutionary. Through licensing permissions to various online music sources, the company combines traditional record production with state of the art digital disclosure.

In other words, for all artists under the Oi Música label the production company has released a completely free, downloadable “App”, or application, for iPhone, iTouch and iPad. Each App contains the artist’s albums, videos, photos, streaming radio and real-time updates about the band, concert dates and even Twitter.

The Fino Coletivo App is available for download on the band’s website, with the entire “Copacabana” album available to Apple-using fans at no cost.

Oi Música’s parent company, Oi, provides local and long distance telecommunication services, including fixed and mobile phone service, internet and cable television. In 2009, the company purchased the controlling share of Brasil Telecom and began operating throughout the entire Brazilian territory. For the second consecutive year, Oi is part of the Bovespa Business Sustainability Index (ISE), reflecting the company’s degree of commitment to social responsibility and its adoption of sustainable managing practices.

In the midst of World Cup fever, the album’s promotional Yellow and Green Party is guaranteed to be packed.
