São Paulo Hosts Leading Global Sustainability Innovation Conference

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Founded in 2007, Sustainable Brands is now regarded as the world’s leading event for innovation in sustainability.

In each edition, the conference hosts hundreds of national and international participants for two days of discussions, workshops and lectures with experts.

This year, the subject ‘Delivering the Good Life’ completes a learning sequence that began in 2017, with ‘Redefining the Good Life – the gateway to understanding the new parameters for living and doing business through sustainability’ – and which continued the following year with ‘Redesigning the Good Life’ – in which attendees built business solutions that included these new standards.

Now, in the last stage of this trilogy, the 2019 focus is on learning about the solutions and initiatives that implement the ideas built in previous debates.

Among the activities boosting new business, Business Round B will be promoted by Sistema B, an organization driving the global movement in Latin America that combines and certifies businesses aimed at building a more resilient, shared and inclusive economy.

“It is a unique opportunity, both for those looking to improve the impacts of their value chain, and for those looking for new markets, customers, partners and investors, who acknowledge their efforts in creating positive impact,” explains Ricardo Glass, co-chairman of the Conselho do Sistema B Brasil and founder of B Okena Company, who will be taking part in the event.

To join the business round, companies may register through the event’s link on the Sistema B Brasil Instagram page: @sistemabbrasil.

Sistema B’s presence, however, goes beyond that. The 2019 Sustainable Brands São Paulo (SBSP) venue featured the 1st Stand B in Brazil. Here, 16 B companies of diverse sizes and sectors will meet, showing how it is possible to do business combining profit and purpose in an innovative and sustainable way.

Among them WZ Advogados; Allset, communication agency; Boomera, a circular engineering company that converts waste into raw material; Mustela French B dermo-cosmetics company for mothers, babies, and children.

Another important participation during the two SBSP 2019 days will be Climate Ventures, a multi-sector innovation platform that aims to boost the regenerative and low carbon economy in Brazil. Last year, Climate Ventures held its first Good Business Call for Climate.

“The goal of the call is to map, identify and support solutions that are generating positive impacts on the climate in six different areas: water management, waste management, agriculture and livestock, energy, logistics and mobility, and land and forest use,” explains Álvaro Almeida, curator and organizer of Sustainable Brands SP.

In its first edition, which took place in 2018, the Climate Call for Good Business mapped 315 businesses with an impact on the most diverse regions of the country. Seven initiatives were selected to be assisted by Climate Ventures and three others were selected to enter the ClimateLaunchpad international competition.

This year, Climate Ventures will announce the finalist startups of the 2nd Call for Good Businesses for Climate at SBSP 2019. There will be seven companies receiving assistance from Climate Ventures to enhance their business.

Topics connected to the current challenges faced by companies and professionals interested in sustainability today and in the future were discussed: – How brands can help protect the Amazon. – The circular economy changes businesses, products and the concept of waste. – Transition talks for businesses that are currently unsustainable. – How to foster the true inclusion of diversity in companies.
