John Rodgerson recalled that the company expects investments of US$1.5 billion (R$6 billion) for new aircraft. “We have to follow the growth of Mercado Livre. We will invest heavily in the company to make deliveries. This partnership is only the start,” said Rodgerson.

At a press conference during the Mercado Livre Experience event, in São Paulo, entrepreneurs said that operations should initially take place in sixteen capitals — but they did not specify which ones. According to entrepreneurs, deliveries will be done in one day, a model known as “Next Day”.

“We are beginning to increasingly modify one-day delivery services, which are highly centered in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro,” said the Mercado Livre co-founder, Stelleo Tolda. “The future is Next Day delivery, and Azul will be a key player in this process,” added Tolda.

Leandro Bassoi, Vice President of Mercado Envios for Latin America of Mercado Livre, said that “for the consumer, this means faster deliveries, using Mercado Livre’s logistics network and Azul, which covers the entire national territory with 900 daily flights. Through this partnership, we expect to reach very high numbers and deliveries in an increasingly shorter time,” said Bassoi.
