RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The International Marathon held in Florianópolis on Sunday morning, August 25th, gathered approximately 10,000 runners from all Brazilian states and thirteen other countries, according to the event’s organization. The race started at 6 AM, on Avenida Beira-Mar Norte.
In the Men’s Elite category, over the 42.2 km course, Adilson Alves Dolberth, from Blumenau, was the winner. He broke the 2 hours, 24 minutes prior record time by finishing the race in 2 hours, 22 minutes.
“I started at my own pace because I wanted to make that time and win. I could not hold the pace in the end, but I still managed a record time,” he rejoices.
In the Female Elite category, the winner was Janaina Santana, from Brasília, with a time of 2 hours, 56 minutes.
“It was my first marathon. I thought the weather helped. The course is apparently easy, but there is a little climb which, if you do not manage, you break. The secret is to train and do what you trained in the race, not making anything up,” she recommends.
