“‘Neymar’s Word is Worth More”, Says His Accuser Najila Trindade

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Model Najila Trindade has commented on the motion to dismiss the inquiry investigating her alleged rape by Neymar. “I think it’s normal because his (Neymar’s) word is worth more than mine. He’s a player, and I’m only a person from a humble family. It’s a lot easier to dismiss the case than to pursue the truth,” Najila said.

The statements were made on Tuesday night, after testimony given in the 11th Police District of São Paulo to clarify the alleged break-in of her apartment.

According to the model, there was a tablet in her apartment that contained video footage of her second meeting with Neymar in Paris.

She claims to have recorded the video in an attempt to gather evidence of her rape and assault that, according to her, took place on their first meeting, on May 15th. Only 66 seconds of the meeting were released — the total footage has never been shown. In the released portion, Najila assaults Neymar.

“I exploded there because deep down I knew there would be no justice for him, a matter of honor, too. I told him, man, there won’t be justice, but I’ll make my own,” said the model.

Although the São Paulo Prosecutor’s Office has petitioned to dismiss the case, it may be reopened as long as new evidence comes to light. Following the Prosecutor’s  positioning and the end of investigations by the Civil Police, a court will rule on the inquiries. There are three potential outcomes: Neymar may be indicted, the judge may request further investigations or the case may be closed.
