“Breaking records is something that happens naturally when you dedicate yourself and you do your work with love. I was waiting for that moment. I’m so happy. I have to say that we are breaking many barriers, and this record represents a lot because it is not only the player Marta, but all women; in a sport that is still male for many, we now have a woman as the top scorer in World Cups. This is for all of them,” said jersey number 10 shortly after being voted the player of the match by Fifa.

Regarding her physical condition, Marta explained that she is gradually improving. She asked to be replaced 37 minutes into the second half.

Having reached third place in their qualifying group, the Brazilians will face France or Germany in the knockout Round of 16.
