Copa América: Brazil Downs Bolivia 3-0, Coutinho Shines

By Newsfeed

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Two goals from Philippe Coutinho lifted Brazil to victory in the Copa América opener on Friday night, June 14th, as the hosts downed Bolivia, 3-0, with all three goals coming after the break.

After a dismal first half performance that had frustrated fans at the Morumbi stadium in São Paulo whistling at the half time break, the second half saw Brazil secure the opening goal they desperately craved.

Jusino’s contact with the ball in the Bolivia area was reviewed by VAR with Coutinho burying the resulting spot kick.

The Barça player was on hand again just three minutes to double the home side’s lead heading home from a close distance.

Grêmio’s Everton scored the best goal of the night driving home after some excellent individual work.
